Lily Douglas began her dance career at Idea Factory at the age of 6, and has grown with the studio through three location changes, twelve seasons, and numerous generations of dancers. She has studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe, and Contemporary under Mrs. Cynthia, as well as voice and acting through the public school system. With Idea Factory, she also studied Creative Dramatics under the direction of Mrs. Cynthia and Mr. Kevin.
Lily has been immersed in performance from the start, beginning with her role of Gretel in a second grade production of Hansel and Gretel at Glen Arden Elementary School Her love of theatre continued with productions of Back to the 80’s and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown at Cane Creek Middle School.
Throughout high school, Lily was a member of the running crew for TC Roberson High School’s production of Guys and Dolls as well as prop master for productions of Spamalot and The Drowsy Chaperone. As the costume designer for the student directed production of Julius Caesar, and Assistant Stage Manager in TC Roberson’s 2015 Spring Musical, The Music Man, she furthered her backstage skill set. Her involvement in the technical side of the theatre experience can be traced back to Idea Factory’s own technical director, Mr. Kevin.
Lily traversed the boards again heading back on stage in the role of “lead Vixen” in TC Roberson’s production of Dracula.
Peter Sklar held a workshop at Idea Factory Studio which taught the ins and outs of becoming a professional in the theatre world. After attending this workshop, Lily was selected to attend the illustrious Peter Sklar’s Beginnings Workshop, a performance “bootcamp” located in NYC, first in 2008 as a student, and again in 2009 as an assistant.
Lily is a recent graduate of TC Roberson, currently taking a gap year before heading off to college.
She is planning a 5 week trip to Morocco in the spring of 2016 to volunteer in a women’s empowerment project. She is excited to be joining the Idea Factory Staff for another wonderful season of dance.
Idea Factory is pleased to have AnnMarie Elizabeth Knight as a staff instructor for our 2015-2016 season. AnnMarie began instructing early in her clogging career and her instructor skill set also includes teaching Irish Step Dancing, Beginner Ballet, and Tumbling. Teaching clogging here in the mountains has always been a dream of hers, and we are happy to be a part of that dream coming true.
AnnMarie has had the experience of dancing on numerous championship clogging teams and winning many awards. She has traveled domestically and internationally performing and competing in clogging competitions and was recently a member of the Cadence Clogging National Team.
AnnMarie attended Mars Hill College, home of the National Championship Bailey Mountain Cloggers where she competed in many different arenas and won Bailey Mountain Clogger Best Traditional Couple and Bailey Mountain Clogger Best Traditional Female. She also served with the Bailey Mountain Cloggers Leadership Team as the Costume Chairman. She graduated as a NC Licensed Teacher in Elementary Education.
